Der Umfang des Trainings hängt von den Zielen ab, die man durch die sportliche Betätigung erreichen will. Für die allgemeine Fitness werden zweimal in der Woche je eine halbe Stunde Ausdauertraining, wie Laufen, empfohlen. Um die Effizienz zu steigern, sollte das Training durch gezieltes Krafttraining ergänzt werden. Krafttraining zur Muskelstärkung sollte vor allem mit zunehmendem Alter Teil des Trainingsplans sein.

Ziel - Sport in jedem Alter

Man kann in jedem Alter mit sportlicher Aktivität beginnen. Die Trainingsprinzipien sind bei jungen und älteren Sportlern ähnlich. Jedoch müssen beim Sport im Alter einige Einschränkungen beachtet werden. Je nach Ausgangsfitness ist die körperliche Belastbarkeit sehr un-terschiedlich und kann oft zu Fehleinschätzungen führen. Dadurch entsteht ein erhöhtes Risiko für Verletzungen. Aus diesem Grund sollte eine ärztliche Gesundheitsüberprüfung vor Beginn des Sportes durchgeführt werden. Generell werden längere Erholungsphasen und kürzere Belastungszeiten bei sportlicher Betätigung im Alter empfohlen.
